Privacy Policy

Introduction

OldLens Match ("this service") has no user registration and, as a rule, does not collect personal information. This policy explains the scope of the information this service handles and how it is treated.

Information stored in local storage

Features such as favorites, my gear and viewing history are stored only in your browser's local storage and are not sent to our servers. Clearing your browser history or site data will also erase this information.

Information sent when you submit a photo

If you use the photo submission feature, the submitted image and any optional comment are sent to and stored on Supabase (regions include the US and EU). Submissions are published after review by the administrator.

⚠️ Please be careful with EXIF data: Photos taken with a smartphone or similar device may contain EXIF metadata such as the date and time, GPS location and camera model. To avoid unintentionally publishing information such as your home address, we strongly recommend removing EXIF data before submitting. This service removes EXIF where technically feasible, but completeness is not guaranteed.

The image file itself is stored in a public Supabase Storage bucket, so anyone who knows the URL can view it. By submitting, you are deemed to have granted permission for publication and modification on this service (see "About images" in the Terms of Use).

Use of cookies

This service uses the following cookies:

Administrator session cookie (HttpOnly): Issued only when logging in to the admin screen. It is not set for anyone other than the administrator, and expires automatically after 8 hours.
No tracking cookies are used for ordinary browsing.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some features (such as the admin screen) will then be unavailable.

Likes on submitted photos

Liking a photo does not require an account. A randomly generated anonymous ID is stored in your browser's local storage and sent with the like so that the same photo is not counted twice. This ID is not linked to any personal information, and clearing your browser data resets it.

Server logs

Our hosting platform (Vercel) and Supabase automatically record server logs on access, including IP address, user agent, referring URL and timestamp. These are used solely for detecting unauthorized access, troubleshooting and statistics, and are not provided to third parties. Retention periods follow the policies of those services.

Navigating to external services

When you follow an affiliate link on this service (Amazon, Rakuten, Yahoo! Shopping, eBay, Buyee and others) to an external site, that site's cookies and tracking technologies apply. Please review the privacy policy of each site.

Analytics

We may introduce analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) in the future to improve the service. If we do, we will announce it in this policy and request cookie consent. No such tool is in use at present.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be changed without notice. Where changes are significant, we will announce them on this page.
